AFTER
Portraits from Denali More than any other part of the human body our face truly is an omnipresent mirror of the human condition. Comprised of unique combinations signifying human individuality this responsive organ is charged with the power of character. More specifically, the combinations of facial characteristics unique to each individual contain the elements of one’s life experiences. As the foundation of any portrait, the face is the portal by which a myriad of emotions associated with these experiences are communicated. The unique features of our faces are the details that make up the whole and are the elements that upon close inspection become a landscape of patterns, shapes, and forms analyzed in terms of textures, voids and volumes. It is with these terms that the individual human state of being is communicated. “AFTER” is an exploration of the physical manifestation of the journey's toll, celebrating the human capacity to endure. after 50 years: 14,000 feet: 6days.
